Indian startup makes ink from air pollution

New Delhi August 21:A new Indian startup has invented a novel way to fight the ever increasing air pollution. The startup named Graviky Labs has created a pen named Air-Ink made out of recycled air pollution. Yes, you read it right, the new venture found a way to harness the power of air pollution and has used it for the benefit of mankind.

Graviky Labs has partnered with Tiger to make the first ever pen made out of air pollution. They are calling it as ‘The Art-of-Pollution’. A 30ML Air-Ink Pen contains 30-50 minutes of air pollution generated by cars- that otherwise have been floating in the environment otherwise and giving us ‘cancer’.
For creating the AirInk, researchers detoxified heavy metals and particle carcinogens from the soot/carbon. Currently, the process is waiting to get certification.

Over the last 150 years, mankind has depended on burning fossil fuels directly or indirectly for their energy needs. Soot is the major byproduct of the burning of fossil fuels.

Research has shown that many premature deaths are directly related to soot in the environment. Particle exposure leads to around 20,000 premature deaths in America each year. Many of these deaths were caused by soot-related diseases. Data also show that soot annually causes almost 300,000 asthma attacks and 2 million lost workdays due to respiratory problems.

“Depending upon the engine and environmental variables, about 80-90 percent content in automotive PM is carbon based. This is what we target,” says Graviky Labs.
