In a bid to ensure safety of women, the Municipal Corporation of
Gurgaon is planning to launch 1,000 app-based e-rickshaws in the city.
As per additional commissioner Amit Khatri, MCG plans to launch e-rickshaws from all Rapid Metro stations by March 2017.
He also said the second phase of Metro is likely to be operational from December.
Reportedly, the service is being launched by Smart-E, which is already operatin
g e-rickshaws in Delhi. It will charge fares in two categories — sharing and individual bookings.
E-rickshaws can be booked through a mobile phone application, which
will be made available soon.
Smart-E will have stands at all Rapid Metro stations.
For the safety and security of commuters, all vehicles will come with GPS and CCTV cameras. It will be the first e-rickshaw service with CCTVs.
According to officials, the service will be launched from DLF Phase 1, Sushant Lok, sectors 53-54, AIT Chowk and sectors 55-56.
