In order to encourage people to opt for solar power, Haryana's
department of renewable energy, HAREDA is offering online application
system to apply for subsidy on solar power panels.
Applications can be submitted along with required documents on HAREDA's portal — hareda.gov.in.
A HAREDA official said that subsidy will be given to only those who
apply for it before installation of the power panel. Meanwhile, solar
panels that have been in existence for a while will not be eligible for
subsidy, according to a report in TOI.
The online application system has been started to make the process simpler and to help the applicants who have to run post to pillar for the subsidy applications.
Residents who generate solar power in commercial, residential or educational institutional category, are eligible for the subsidy at 30 per cent of the benchmark price or 20,000 per kW, whichever is less. The benchmark price is set at Rs 75,000 for the slab of up to 10kW , 68,000 for 10-50kW and 62,000 for 50kW and upwards.
