Special summary revision of photo electoral rolls in Haryana

Following the directions of Election Commission, special summary revision of photo electoral rolls of all 90 Assembly Constituencies in Haryana will be carried out with reference to January 1, 2017 as the qualifying date.

This was stated by state's Chief Electoral Officer Ankur Gupta after a video conference with all Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers here on Thursday.

He also held a meeting with representatives of various political parties.

Gupta said the draft electoral rolls would be published on October 1.

The period for filing of claims and objections would be from October 1 to October 31. Reading of relevant part or section of photo electoral rolls in gram sabha or local bodies and RWA meeting and verification of names would be carried out on October 7 and 14, he said.

Special campaign dates with booth-level agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections would be October 16 and 23, Gupta said.

He said disposal of claims and objections would take place by November 30 and updation of database, merging of photographs, updating of control tables and preparation and printing of supplementary list would be done by December 24.

The final publication of electoral rolls would take place on January 10, 2017, he said.
Gupta said the prime objective of this revision was to prepare an accurate roll complete in all respects with the active cooperation and involvement of electorate.

He said according to the schedule issued by Election Commission, all eligible persons who would attain 18 years of age on January 1, 2017, may visit the nearest Booth Level Officer, Election Registration Officer or District Election Officer and apply for addition of their names in photo electoral rolls from October 1 to 31.
Also, people may apply for removal of names in current voter list of those persons who have died or shifted to another place and to rectify any mistake in the names by applying on prescribed proforma on Form No 6, 7, 8 or 9.

The NRIs may apply on Form No 6A for adding their names in voters list, he added.
