GOVT COLLEGES IN HARYANA SOON TO BE ‘FREE WI-FI CAMPUS’ WITH JIO

Haryana Department of Higher Education has decided to set up free Reliance Jio Wi-Fi campuses in all the Government colleges of the State, said Haryana Education Minister, Ram Bilas Sharma.

He said that the Reliance Jio would deploy overall infrastructure for deployment of Wi-Fi or small cell in all the government colleges free of cost. As part of the introductory offer for all government colleges, Reliance Jio would give 20 MB free usage per day per user for all students and staff for one year. Reliance Jio would also block all objectionable websites as per Government of India directions, he added.

He said that all the Principals of Government Colleges have been directed to provide suitable space and security for Wi-Fi or small cell and other relevant network equipment. They would also provide power supply for the equipment, however Reliance Jio would pay the electricity bills so generated, said Sharma.
Meanwhile, from onwards, the officers and officials who intend to meet the Director Higher Education would have to apply online for seeking date and time. A new menu has been created on the web-portal of the Department for facilitating the visitors.
In this regard, directions have been issued to Vice-Chancellors of all government and private universities and principals of government and government aided colleges in the state, said the Education Minister.

He said that a ticket number would be sent to registered mobile number after filling up all columns in the prescribed performa on the web-portal. The appointment status could be checked through the ticket number.
