Haryana allowed women to meet their brothers in the hall of state jails to celebrate Rakhi-Haryana Online

The Haryana Jails Minister Krishan Lal Panwar said that on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan next month, sisters would be able to tie rakhis on the wrists of their imprisoned brothers without any hassles.

Officers of the department have been issued directions to allow sisters to meet their brothers in the hall of jails on this pious occasion. Earlier, they had to tie rakhis with a net thrown between them and their brothers. This condition has been lifted this year, he added.

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, sisters who want to travel in Haryana Roadways buses for tying rakhis to their brothers in the state will be able to avail themselves of the facility of free travel, this year too.

The department would provide the facility of free travel for 36 hours, from 12pm on August 17 to 12 am on August 18. Apart from women, their children up to the age of 14 years would also be allowed free travel, the minister added.
