The power corporation has launched the reward
scheme to encourage employees as well as private persons to check
electricity theft in the state.
AK
Raheja, Superintending Engineer, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam
(UHBVN), said under the scheme, 10 per cent of the amount realised on
account of final settlement (excluding compounding amount) would be paid
to the employee or private person.
“Consumers
who inform us about power theft and whose tip-off actually result in
detection of theft will be given rewards under the scheme,” he said. “If
any person provides information about ‘kundi connection’ and provides
video or photograph, these will be kept secret,” he added.
Raheja
said the corporation had now decided to take stringent action against
the defaulters and a police case would be registered against those who
would involve in electricity theft.
The
government had launched the surcharge waiver scheme (SWS) and voluntary
declaration scheme (VDS) to recover the pending amount in October last
year. The schemes were valid till December 31, but due to poor response,
the schemes were extended up to January 31.
