Presiding over a meeting with bankers here to review the progress of cashless transactions, Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar directed officers to remain in touch with agencies concerned to ensure availability of the network required for usage of all kinds of gadgets for doing cashless transactions.
The RBI would be requested not to levy any charge on the customers doing cashless transactions.
The bankers have been asked to make available MPOS (Mobile Point of Sale) devices and encourage the traders to use the gadget for the promotion of cashless transactions. The MPOS device would also be installed in all Government departments having receipt section.
The Chief Minister directed the bankers to expedite the distribution of RuPay Card to give impetus to the usage of plastic money. Besides, banks should also facilitate RTGS or NEFT through online portals for large value transactions to promote net banking.
It was decided at the meeting that Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Departments would install POS machines and AEPS at all outlets and encourage the people to switch to mobile banking system. More than 77 per cent beneficiaries are Aaadhar-seeded and sincere efforts are being made to cover all.
Village level executives, working in ‘Atal Seva Kendras’, would be accorded the status of Banking Correspondent Agents. Request would be made to the Union Finance Minister and the Information Technology Minister for early implementation.
Khattar said about 45 per cent Aaadhar cards were linked with bank accounts. There is need to expedite the process and take this figure to 100 per cent in the quickest possible time. The UPI address should also be enabled in all government departments to facilitate payments. The next meeting to review the status of cashless transactions and AEPS would be convened within a week.
Finance Minister, Capt Abhimanyu, Chief Secretary, DS Dhesi, Principal Secretary to CM, Rajesh Khullar, Additional Principal Secretary Dr Rakesh Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, SS Prasad, Principal Secretary, Monitoring and Coordination, TC Gupta, and representatives of nationalized and private banks were present at the meeting.
